Sometimes we set goals based on what we think we should do or from influences we see outside of our personal life that has created success for someone else. Make sure you are going after something you want and what will make you happy.
Sometimes it's not so much the what or how that matters, but your ‘why?’ The purpose behind your why is the true root cause to fully understanding how to approach your goal and what will it look like when you get there.
If you want to succeed, you must create a clear compelling vision. Make sure this comes from your heart, something that you can relate to and resonate with. You achieve only what you see, so set the bar high and continue to play that finale on mental repeat.
Now that you have a clear-cut idea of why and what your goal looks like, it is time for ‘how?’ Break the goal down into smaller pieces. An important key to your success will be your ability to break down your goals into shorter-term tasks.
Seek out positive information and support to help you stay on the road to victory for your new goal. Negativity is hurtful to mental well-being – do not keep yourself around those who do not believe in your growth. The positive boost from those who support you will help you enjoy the short term successes, while continuing to cheer you on through the finish line.
Remind yourself why you set the goal. Visualization is a powerful technique, which is why we added it twice into this list. Creating the mental picture of yourself successfully completing a goal, makes even the worst tasks worth completing for the sake of total gratification at the end of your journey.
Be consistent. Don’t make excuses or waste your time rationalizing why certain tasks along your path have created a break in your goal. Understand this is normal and you will get through this bump. Don't divide your attention but give your full and undivided self to the task at hand. When you do, your chances for success go way up.
